Threat Awareness and De-Escalation in the Workplace Workshop

Event Description: The WVPCA, in partnership with Parasol Health Consulting, is proud to bring you "Threat Awareness and De-Escalation in the Workplace", a one-day workshop focusing on workplace violence prevention. This event will allow attendees the opportunity to join their peers and discuss their approaches, best practices, and training needs within their Health Centers and among their staff. The workshop will also offer example based information related to workplace safety and violence prevention, as well as take-home resources that may include checklists, training scenarios for new hires and refresher courses to experienced staff, and other practical guidance for Community Health Centers, School-Based Health Centers, and Mobile Clinics. 

Objectives and Goals: 

  • Understanding workplace threats: Attendees will learn how to identify and react to workplace threats

  • De-escalation techniques: Attendees will learn proper techniques on how to de-escalate and defuse hostile workplace threats

  • Scenario based learning: Attendees will participate in a scenario describing a workplace threat and learn how to properly manage the situation within their Health Center location.

  • Tools and resources for safety: Attendees will learn about what tools and resources they can use to keep their workplaces safe, and will receive take-home resources upon conclusion of the training.

Event Date, Time, and Location: This workshop will take place in person on May 21st, 2025 at the TC Energy Building Auditorium located at 1700 MacCorkle Avenue SE, Charleston, WV 25314 from 9:30 AM to 3 PM.

Target Audience: All Health Center staff involved in emergency management/threat preparedness, administrators, supervisory staff, human resource managers

Cost: This workshop is being offered at only $25 per participant!
